First Year Milestones

Well, this is not so much for all of you, but for us to have and keep!  I have been keeping track of these things since she was born just to have. Can't believe a whole year's gone by since we started this journey called parenthood. God is Good. His goodness is greatness. We are blessed!

Annabelle Cate Dixon’s Milestones/Fun Things


 October 10, 2009: Smiled at daddy at 1 day old, and we got it on camera! But you did it more so after smiling back at mommy & daddy around 5 weeks old.

 January 4, 2010: Slept through the night, 11 hours, after mommy’s first day back to work! You were up and down with a couple of growth spurts but tap out around 7:30/8pm and wake up at 7am like clock work!

 January 24, 2010: Laughed out loud! You giggled a lot, but this was your first strong laugh where I repeated the same action and you chuckled multiple times. PRECIOUS! Daddy is definitely best at getting your giggles.

 January 2010: Sat up supported in your Bumbo seat for about 20 minutes, around 13 weeks old.

 February 3, 2010: Ate your first solids, Sweet Potatos! You loved them and got them all over you!

 February 2010: You said “Momma” and “Mom” a lot around 17 weeks old. Daddy even said so! But then after a couple of weeks, you stopped!

 February 2010: You found out that you could actually get your feet into your mouth right around your 4 month birthday! After that, you were always sucking on your toes!

 March 24, 2010: Sat up by yourself for a minute or more. You had been sitting up a little bit for a few weeks, but this was more than just a tripod, this was sitting up like a big girl, at 5.5 months old!

 April 3, 2010: First drink out of a sippy cup 1 week before 6 month birthday!

 April 7, 2010: Cut her first tooth at MeMaw & Dadda B’s, while mommy was at the grocery, you fussed and fretted like no other for 15 minutes, and then…..a tooth was there! And even more present the next morning!

 April 7, 2010: You scooted across your tummy time blanket to your toy! Up on your knees for a moment, and making progress towards getting around on your own!

 April 13, 2010: At your 6 month checkup you were at the 50th percentile!! At 2 months you were in the 50th, then at 4 months the 75th, and now leveling off at 50!! Which means….you’re PERFECT! At least to us, and you measure beautifully all across the board! (You won’t really know what the mess that means until you have your own kids!)

 May 11, 2010: On our big beach trip, you had a tough day most of the day Tuesday, fussy, uncomfortable, and by the time you went to bed, your second bottom tooth was officially present!

 May 17th (or so), 2010: You finally said “DaDa” and we established it now, you say “DaDa” when you want to play and get excited, and “MaMa” when you’re tired, hungry, sad, or fussy. Daddy for fun, Mommy for comfort!

 June 2, 2010: While mommy was getting ready for work and you were going nuts in your Jenny Jump Up and when mommy said “Hidee” and waved, you officially waved back!!! It was so cute! No hand movement, but that whole arm flailing up and down!

 July 5, 2010: You have been scooting around like crazy doing your little “army crawl.” We have hard woods everywhere in our Roscoe house and I don’t think you like the way it feels after a while!

 July 6, 2010: You have started really crawling and doing really well pulling yourself up on virtually EVERYTHING you could reach.

 July 2010: You started doing a fun little thing with your nose where you squench it up and show your pretty teeth and sniff at us. So so funny!!

 August 2, 2010: You are more and more comfortable with independence and cruise all over the place!! Getting around from thing to thing.

 August 14, 2010: Blowing Kisses! Sometime 1, sometimes MILTIPLES!!

 August 19, 2010: DOG is your 3rd official word! And you slowed down on using Mama & Dada for about 3 weeks after this…you just wanted to point at Gracie and say “Daaaawwwwwg”

 August 23, 2010: Finally learned how to clap and play Patty Cake with DeDe & MeMaw. You Patty Cake it…You Roll it…you pat it….not sure what we are doing when we mark it with a B…But you ALWAYS Throw it in the oven for Annabelle & Me!

 August 27, 2010: You know some specific anatomy… “boobies” Hilarious!! I say, “Where’s mommy’s boobies?” and you pat pat pat….so funny. Maybe a little too much for some, but I adore it!

 August 29, 2010: Your last Mommy Milk Meal. We planned for 6 months of nursing, and just loved it, and it was so convenient and cheap, so we kept going! So almost 11 months, but you had a little bit of goodnight comfort every few days until September 13th.

 September 1, 2010: We forgot that you have a walker! We grabbed that and you just immediately started pushing it around on the carpet. We are about to move from this hardwood land, and I predict a happier way of transporting yourself. No more bruised knees and sliding walkers!

 September 6, 2010: You say “Bye Bye” and wave at people when we leave now.

 September 13, 2010: We had been working on your sign language for a while and you got “more” quite a while back, but now you are FLUID with it! “MORE” and “PLEASE” and “Thank You” (which you are pretty much saying) and “All Done” are your go to words! We are working on teaching you more, because you are picking up on it all so quickly. “Momma” “Daddy” “Hungry” “Milk” “Wait” and a couple more.

 September 29th, 2010: Your 5th tooth broke through! Bicuspid #1

 September 30th, 2010: Your 5th word is officially “BOW” and you grab your bow when it’s not in your hair and hold it to your head and say “BOW.” So cute

 October 8th, 2010: The day before your 1st birthday, you decided to show off for Aunt Carol and Uncle Fred who were in town and staying with us at the Dixon’s, and you took your first independent steps!! You were trying to run from daddy to me and from me to daddy! YAY big girl!
